My 11 Life Goals
As children, we were surrounded by people we looked up to and admired. These role models, can be friends, teachers, parents, celebrities, actors, etc. They accomplished activities we intended to impersonate and wanted to follow in their footsteps.
At some point, we become our own trend-setter and pick ambitions to follow for ourselves. We continue to be surrounded by people we look up to and we find goals through them, to add to our list.
For example, when we were kids, we saw movies about being royalty- prince or princess, living a fairytale and an amazing story. At the time, our goals were to live in a mansion and own more outfits than we could count.
Growing up, the goals started to shift, and we realized a fairytale life isn't necessarily what is shown in movies, but it can be created to be the fairytale we want it to be.
In this blog, I am sharing the goals I currently have that I want to accomplish in my life.
Make your life a masterpiece; imagine no limitations on what you can be, have or do. - Brian Tracy
1. Starting my own family
Currently and always, my family consists of my sister, my mom, my dad, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends. In the near future, I would like to find a partner and eventually I'd like to have two to three kids.
2. Find a place to call my own
I haven't yet decided where I want to establish myself or what type of building. It could be a condo or a house, townhouse or apartment . I know that I want a roof over my head and rooms to decorate, walls to paint and a spot to relax.
3. Purchase a car
A car gets me from point A to point B, and the car I currently have I love. It's doing exactly what it needs to do. Although, at some point I would like to get a new car.
After work, I walk to my car and I try to imagine what kind of car I would want to walk up to/ which car I want to drive and I have no clue. Maybe a Civic or a Nissan, a Kia or a Honda. I'll know once I see it.
4. Continue my hobbies and try new ones
My hobbies currently consist of photography, painting, writing, working out and blogging. However, I haven't been painting all that much lately. I'd like to motivate myself to get back into it, and keep it up in the future. Some new hobbies may arise and my goal is to tackle those.
5. Find the career path that makes me happy
I want to be satisfied with the job that I choose but I am in no rush to make that decision. I am taking every experience I can now, and figuring out what I enjoy doing best.
When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut, then I wanted to be a magician, afterwards I wanted to be a dance or piano teacher. I have not pursued any of those careers.
My friends wanted to be doctors, nurses, dentists, fire fighters, all of which are amazing jobs and are high demand jobs. But I am not looking at the money aspect of my career. I put my happiness first with this goal.
6. Help others
In my job, I help students learn and succeed at their full potential. In my life, I am there to support those around me, friends and family etc. In my blogs, I aim to share and help. I want to continuously help people.
7. Remain my true self
I have a fear of losing myself in the process of living my life. I have aimed to be as natural as possible with myself and others. I aim to do this by listening to my intuition and taking what people say about me with a grain of salt. I want to change myself for me and not for others.
8. Travel
Ideally, I'd love to take time to explore every province in Canada. I have been to quite a few provinces, but it would be nice to really take in the scenery in each. I wouldn't mind travelling to another province to work again in the near future. Nothing is final though, just seeing where things take me.
9. Learn more about photography
I enjoy being creative and capturing photos through a lens or even my phone. I could learn more about photography by taking a course or doing a lot of research. Then, I will be able to have more knowledge towards it and possibly move further with my hobby. Or make it a side gig. I will continue to take scenery photos and portraits, when I can.
10. Continuously surround myself by positivity
I have an amazing support group currently... by support group I mean my friends and family. I hope to keep those individuals in my life and I'd like to meet incredible people, in journey.
If I surround myself with positive people and positivity, I'm able to remain true to myself as well.
11.Remain open minded
I want to be as flexible and accepting as possible to have a healthy lifestyle. This can be towards any part of my life, being open minded towards: work, friends, family, relationships, bumps in the road, conflict and the list goes on.
These could easily change by day, by month, by year or even years but currently this list is what I'm working towards. It gives me attainable goals to look forward to. I can thank my role models for showing me what they've accomplished, to help me figure out what I would like to work towards.
What are your goals? When do you plan on attaining them?
